Albury Autofest
Albury airport never knew what hit it, burnouts, go to whoa and over 10,000 spectators across the weekend. This was the first time Albury Autofest has been held and by all accounts won’t be the last.
Rain caused Saturday’s proceedings to be a little delayed, however if you waited out the rain there was plenty of action and tyre smoke to be inhaled.
Burnouts
The overall burnout champ for Albury Autofest was Clint Ogilvie(owner of the blown pink torana pictured above). Video of Clint’s burnout can be found here.
A theme is beginning to emerge with Les Adams’ (event organiser) latest events, enormous burnout pads. The pad was huge at Albury, giving entrants the opportunity to show off a bit of their drift come burnout expertise.
Although designed for drifting, kumho’s range of coloured tyres proves to be quite spectacular on the burnout pad. A mix of blue and red tyres gave off huge plumes of purple smoke.
Whilst there was plenty of blown tyres on the burnout pad, there weren’t any engine first to tyre fires, but there was an incident where ‘W84IT’, a red V6 VN Commodore got a little out of shape and kissed the barrier surrounding the burnout pad (pictured above). He did put on a killer skid for a seemingly fairly stock V6 commo before remodelling his rear end.
Just to rub it in a close up of the damage, guess the concrete barrier faired a lot better than the commo in this battle.
Go To Whoa
Cameron White won the Go To Whoa in his Subaru WRX (pictured above).
Plenty of tough cars entered the Go To Whoa, all lighting up the tyres with ease. Entrants had a ball, thrashing their pride and joy all weekend. All entrants had numerous runs on the track.
All in all another fantastic weekend, big thumbs up to Les Adams and his crew.
