Powercruise Tasmania 2008

tasmania powercruise 2008 photos

Tassie experienced their very first Powercruise over the weekend past. Everyone was pumped that an event like this was coming to Tasmania. The weather was perfect for the entire event. There was plenty of film crews on hand taking photos and shoots for magazines.

Gup brought down his famous Elvis HQ, Mentle in his Tuff camaro. Steve Loader in his tuff as HG Holden. We also had Victor and Ben Bray with their burnout cars to put on a display for the Tassie people. Also 50Man showed his skills in his Commodore drift car. What a display he put on with 360 donuts at high speeds.

Tug In The Park 2008

tug in the park 2008

The Bay Area Hot Club Sydney held its 12th Annual Tug in the Park Hot Rod Show at
Stanwell Park NSW on Sunday the 3rd.

Sunday morning waking up at 7am for the long trek down to Wollongong or more precisely Stanwell park. The weather was very over cast and we were in two minds about whether to travel to the show thinking there wouldn’t be much interest in weather like this.

Summernats A Change is in Order?

Summernats 21 cruising gallery

So Summernats 21 swept through ACT like cyclone Tracy, promoters enjoyed great success with spectator numbers reaching 105,000. But are changes needed for Summernats to stay on the straight and narrow?

Should changes be made? It seems to me the answer is a resounding YES! Alcohol, burnouts and security would have to be the most talked about negative points of Summernats 21. How about we address each of these issues separately with suggestions on how to rememdy them.

Summernats 21

The ACT was saturated with revheads as Summernats 21 came to town, 105,000 spectators walked through the gates and i’m guessing there was many a sore head to nurse too. All this adds upto an estimated $12 million cash injection into the ACT’s economy, pretty amazing what the car community can do.

Bigblocks, smallblocks, turbo, twinturbo, supercharged, twin supercharged, bagged, lowered, airbrushed, you name it Summernats has it in the modification stakes.
