FAT 245, Im doing a Twin turbo 350 chev in my Merc, and excuse my ignorance but Ive never heard of the BTR78 Series diff. Must be becuase its ford ahahahaha. What cars were they fitted to? I work at a wrecking yard so I have access to heaps of cars, mostly from about the mid 80's to mid 90's.

Yeah, really not looking forward to getting the dash apart, I did half of one to get at an air conditioniung unit out of a 74 Merc and that wa painful enough.. Add a cripple and small garage t the equation and things could get interesting!
yeah well we will follow your progress and mirror it if it works well for you

It's only really going to be used as a cruiser rather than an all out thrasher so the stock diff will do until it turns into a boat anchor (hopefully later rather than sooner).

FORD - XD-AU
Holden - VH-VT
Valiant - VH-CM
yup - but not going that route right now.

Hey AJ, yeah no probs I'll be happy to send one or two over if you need em. Just a quick update on my project too. The boys from Haltech over in Sydney are donating an ECU to run my engine - saving me around $1500!!! Ive stripped the car completely now, and its going onto the hoist for welding on Friday for the day. I'll keep you updated on progress of the diff fitment as it happens. Now only two weeks before it goes off to paint! Oh by the way, AJ, where did you get your door seals, boot seal and wndow seals from? The only ones I could find were on ebay from the states at US$525!! With the strength of our dollar thats totally out of the question for me. Got myself a nice B&M Quicksilver shifter yesterday and some nice braided lines and anodised fittings for the fuel and oil lines. the deadline is now January 10, as WA's Motorvation car show is a week later so it gives me a little breathing space. How's the Merc coming along? Havent seen an update for a bit, guess you guys are busy on it haha

hey mate - will send you a pm on the details of where to get the seals from. Bought all seals and all rubbers(whole car) for 1k. So the seals for the windows boot etc should be ~500...

With re to the diff - let me konw what you do and what mods need to be made. Very interested in this.

Merc is coming along - we've just finished cleaning up, strengthening and painting the front subframe (about to go back in this arvo). The rear X member has been cleaned up, painted and put back in too. We haven't updated lately cos you can't really see the progress but it's there :).

Should be an update next week as we're hoping to get all the interior back this week which means we can start putting doors on and windows etc...!

oh nice AJ!! thanks for that! Seems like the Merc is really moving along nicely. Oh mate, you are just opening my eyes up to all the crazy work I have ahead of me. Yeah I found a set of front and rear windscreen seals for US$89 on ebay US but the door seals seem rediculously expensive. I might try some rubber manufacturers here in perth to try and keep my costs down. Can you PM me your number again as I lost my phone when I was in Beijing. Would just like a quick chat.

Cheers

Hey Mate,

Try Scott's Old Auto Rubber.

They Make their Own Rubbers and are Pretty Competitive with Pricing.

Hey guys just thought I would post some progress pics of my Merc project. I know this should probably go in another frum but Im too lazy to go through the process. Sorry AJ haha. Have a look at the rust issue I have to deal with. It gets a hell of a lot worse underneath the car.
