There are some amazing advances in that kind of technology due to the advanced terror threat!

There is another thread where there is a retractable bollard that people try to run... stops people going into a bus only area... i'll see if i can find it.. HELL funny!

yer well i work in construction management side of things...and we installed some of these retractable bollards to the "epping to chatswood railway line"....they are worth like 10k each and you should see the reo that goes into the ground to support the thing.....

I was in Europe in July travelling through Italy and these are widely used in restricted areas where delivery trucks can enter with a remote control that allows the bollard to go down - HOWEVER I never imagined they were THAT strong - thats great !!!!!
