I know they have lots of practice days and the like down there. I think Mallala Motorsport Park might even put some of them on their selves, and I assume there would be at least one drift club down there, but I'm not 100% sure on exactly what the setup is. I'll make some inquiries and report back.

At the moment, yes. This year we'll have Mallala, Queensland Raceway, Eastern Creek, Symmons Plains and Oran Park. Last year we also had a round at Winton.

The crowd numbers have been steadily growing. This is our second year, and the sport has come a long way even in that time. I remember the first time I saw drifting, at the Oran Park PROCAR round in April 2004, when it was guys in road cars.

So considering how young the sport of drifting is in Australia - and that the word is still spreading - there is still a lot of potential.

I didn't realise that DA had only been operating for only 2 years? The fact that it's still relatively small/young is actually part of the attraction. Being able to chat to people who are ontop of the game (ie you) without having to go through a heap of hassle is quite nice. From what i've seen so far anyways...

I agree re word spreading - hopefully people come across some drifting pics and info here and go to have a looksee for themselves too.

Do you drive in any events?

No, sadly, I don't drive in any events. The occasional fang in a hire kart with mates is about as behind the wheel I've ever been in motorsport.

I'd love to give a bit of motorsport a go at some stage, but we'll see how it all pans out with time.

You done much drifting karbonphyber? Your drag racing ride in the avatar?

Yeah I wouldn't mind trying my hand at some on track stuff early next year - it's all about funds ;)

@ Kabonphyber - if you suck at drifting, then I don't even want to think about how bad i'll be at it :D
