Sydney turned on some excellent weather for the Drifting today. Okay, I joke.

I'm told Oran Park was dustier than Baghdad. I was at Eastern Creek, which was not much fun either. No dust, but massive winds, warm weather and not a lot of cloud cover.

Aside from the weather, good day out there AJ?

oh man - the dust was insane! Any idea why the rally guys were stirring up so much dust when such a big event is being held? I guarantee 50% of the crowd left due to the dust.
It was a good day, actually it was a great weekend all round. On Saturday Chris Easton pulled out an awesome lap to qualify numero uno and there was a whole lotta carnage - pink ute, orange psi car, Easton had a power steer failure and gave the wall a jab.

Chris head in hands after coming off....

The ute and monaro are probably the most notable cars when it comes to crowd pleasers IMO - can't go past the sound!
Apparently the ute doubles as a flame thrower too :)

Couple of my favourite pics from saturday

I love the colour scheme on this S15 - looks brilliant and is nice to photograph too...

I love open faced helmets for the facials - lol

Am just editting the pics from today - will post them up later tonight/tomorrow in the am.

EDIT -

Almost forgot - what was on at the Creek this weekend?

Had a look through the other two threads, nice work with the photos.

Christian's 'camo' S15 is a fine piece of automotive art. I haven't had a chance to look at it close up, but it always looks awesome in pictures and on TV. There are some really beautifully turned out cars, like Kelly McKinnon's disco ball look, the Martini Racing cars and the CAPA cars to name but a few.

Yeah, unfortunately it was one of those things with the dust. The rally school operate frequently at their venue and 99.9% of the time it isn't a problem. Unfortunately with the extremely windy conditions yesterday it became a bit hairy, but there wasn't really anything anyone could do about it.

Eastern Creek had the final round of the NSW State Racing Championships. I was out there on duty for Motorsport News doing reports for the Motorsport NSW liftout they produce on each round.

cheers - photos are starting to get better - a few more events / months and they should be reasonably good all round :)

There sure are a good number of nicely painted/kitted up cars. The disco ball skyline reminds me of the 80's for some reason, the 80's and Japanese styling... I actually think the CAPA cars seem a bit plane jane in comparison to the pink ute, camo etc.. Don't get me wrong, I love the V8/supercharged combo, but the paint just isn't as exciting as some of the other cars.

Yeah i've been to Oran Park numerous times and the dust has never been like that, just a case of bad luck, but still a great weekend for drifting really!

Sounds like you've got a heap of Motorsport obligations - what other facets of the industry are you involved in?

Yeah, the CAPA cars aren't the most exciting, but with the two cars, the slick transporter, etc they're a well presented outfit.

It's predominantly PR and Journalism. I've got my own little PR company I started last year, Token Cameo Consultancy, which works with clients including Drift Australia, Protecnica Racing and Chris Alajajian in the Fujitsu V8 Series, and Australian F3 team Astuti Motorsport.

I work with Motorsport News on a freelance basis, doing race reports at random events I'm at and the Motorsport NSW liftout, do some occasional motorsport stuff for website www.sportsnews.com.au, and recently started my own Australian motorsport comedy site as a side-project, www.tumsp.com.

That's a good question. I don't really have an answer, it just seems like the done thing in drifting. Presumably it stems from drifting origins in Japan. I’ll try and find out for you.

just a quick drive by post :)

I haven't had a chance to even upload sundays photos as yet - i'm in the process of moving the forum to a new and far superior script along with a gallery script. The move will take place on friday hopefully - i'll send out an email before and after.

Yes, no doubt the complete setup is pretty awesome to see - would still like to see a more aggressive paintjob. I think the 2200 odd hp in those two cars deserves it :knuppel2:

Sounds like a busy life mate, I would love to build up to having to spend all my time immersed in motorsport - that's the long term plan anyways :)

I like the idea of tumsp.com - can I make a small suggestion, have you thought about turning it into a blog? ie use a script like www.wordpress.org . It would make updates a breeze.

I asked a mate and his response was 'when youlook in the mirror it's the right way aroun' :2funny: Somehow I don't think that's right...but i'd be interested in hearing what the answer is.
