Im rewiring a Nissan SX for racing for a freind this just give you an idea on how much wire is in a newer car i have taking out over 30kg so far and as it only will a basic loom it will lucky to have over 5 kg put back in.

how big off a job would it be to rip out wiring and just have it so car will run and lights work just the basic stuff cause my torrie is a bloody mess

I have no connection with this supplier so dont shoot me down here for spam.
Ive rewired many cars over the years with all types of looms, and the best one Ive used is the little-known rebel wiring loom. They are made specifically for RHD aussie cars, not some import for US cars. Flathead Garage theres plenty of wire, all marked along the whole length of the wire every 6 inches or so, and good instructions for the novice for gm.ford/mopar installations. Do yourself a favor and get a new one, with the time you save and without the hassles of working with old sh1t you'll be thanking yourself for doing so. And for the record, yes I did wire up a car on the campsite at summernats with basic tools from scratch in less than 2 hours, hey CRITTA . It wasnt pretty, but neither was losing the bet . It was still good enough to get through scrutineering though

a bloke i work with is part of a rally team they run a evo 7or8 cant remember the auto elec on thier team rewired it and saved 15kg they cam first in thier class and thrid overall last rally they went to
