i love my turbo's and at the moment i do believe SC make the best drag cars but i reckon in 5 years time we are going to start seeing some Turbo funny cars. they have the doorslammers in the US down around the 5.8's and over 250mph, turbo's are reasonably new technology give it a few more years we will see the TD's in the 5.5's for sure.
it is harder to get a radical hp car on the street because of the tough laws, a mate has a 426ci Twin Turbo in his XB Falcon ok the things weighs 4000lbs it will be making over 800rwhp imagine that in a 2800lb car. 500hp+ on the street is plenty im building a turbo drag car will be close to 2000hp yet im getting more excited about the little NA engine im going to do afterwards, u need something to excite u the other 350 days of the year u aren't racing a strip car ![]() |

Last summernats I was told I should not be in tuff street, because I had no Tubs or sheet metal interior or blower sticking out of the bonnet. My car is street legal with a big block and has made 687 on an engine dyno, but I would not call it an every day type car. Its just tuff streeter in the legal sence.

Summernats 21 & 22 my brother was runner-up in Tuff Street, the car is fully registered engineered and was driven on the street daily, the car has run 140mph on the 1/4 and that was from 330' it couldn't get up on boost till then, the cams were dodgy. he was told pretty much the same thing, it doesn't have visual appeal to win.
i reckon they should do a drive to Parliament House and back or something like that, if the car can make it or is allowed to even be driven on the road legally then it can be in Tuff Street, i guess they don't follow the rules closely as it would exclude alot of entrants and cost them money! |
