I switched my 377 over to meth last year to see how it would go.
I ran a mech fuel pump and a modified Holley 4 port reg. The carb was modified to give a vacuum signal at idle and up to about 15 degrees throttle opening. This was then referenced to the reg so that fuel pressure was dropped about 6psi at idle and light cruise. This allowed me to run 9psi at WOT and 3psi at idle.
I used one of the fuel pressure take offs to run a -4 return line to stop the fuel heating up too much.
My engine only had 11.0:1 comp and the increase in mid range torque was amazing but top end wise I reckon it was about the same.
The carb I used was a $200 eBay speedway special. I ran the stock jetting and checked it on the dyno, it was a bit rich but I ran with it. Meth has a huge tuning window, too rich doesn't make much difference to power, just engine temp. The idle needed a bit of work to get it lean enough to heat the engine. Once on the main circuit the engine temp would drop. For a burnout weapon you can't beat it, it would be even better with a blown/turbo engine as the cooling is spectacular.
As for the maintenance, after a weekend of caning it I would take it home, warm it up as much as possible (get it warm at idle then drop off a vac hose to lean it out even further), drive it into the shed and rip the valve covers off. This would allow all the condensation to evaporate and it never had milky oil.
The only other real hassle is starting it cold. I used to fill the primary bowl with ULP to start it for the first run of the day, after that if there was any heat in the engine it would start on meth, if not then I used Aerostart or Carb Clean to fire it up. Also I used the VP M2 additive to lessen corrosion and sweeten the tail pipes !!!

Hope this helps.

yeh you can get an additive and it seems to help i was starting mine every day and i pulled the fuel filter and carb bolls off and there was stil some white gunk in them so i would flush them out if your not going to be racing it or empting the tank in the next few days best way seems to be run it out of meth and just put some pump fuel in and run it on that

Were abouts do you buy methanol? how much per litre roughly please?do you need any special license to buy it? if you were to buy a 44gallon drum, how long would it be able to sit in garage before using it?

I got Coogee Methanol at Rocket and also some F2R meth here.... Page Title

No special licence required.

Store it well sealed and off the floor (I have mine on a pallet) and it should be good for up to a year. A mate has used the same drum for two years now with no problems but it must be well sealled.

so ive got a alco pump and -8 fuel lines so all i need is to run a alco carb (can my bg750dp be changed to suit)??? i dont mind having to drain it or run it out of meth and then put fuel in afterwards, as the car is only for burnouts/events and a bit of drag racing
