Hey the XR looks great like the idea of a 347 aswell. A good mate just finished a 347 with trickflow heads and it made 580hp on the engine dyno all brought from ebay second hand only cost $6000 cheap power if you ask me! Any up date on the progress?

G'day.
Yeah, there was a fair stoppage on the XR, but in the last 2 weeks have started getting back into it. At the moment i am sorting out the front brakes and suspension. Will be installing XF stub axles, twin pot calipers and 300mm discs. Suspension is getting all new ball joints and a nolathane bush kit on majority of parts. Good to be spending money on it again. We are going on holiday this year and have spent around $12,000 so far. But you only live once. Will put some pics up of progress in the next few weeks.

Hi guys,
Damn, it's been a long time since posting anything for this thread. Well, I'm happy to say that i have been very slowly starting to get back into the old girl and spend a bit of money on her. As you can see in the last few updates, I have the whole front end out. I am getting up a bit of cash right now and in a fortnight or so I should be able to afford a big brake kit from Hopper stoppers. I have heard that the big brake kits off of ebay lack a bit of metal quality and also require machining for installation. Well, What am i up to now? I have been cleaning up a lot of the parts i have pulled off the front. I have a contact through my Dad that will do some powder coating for really cheap for me. So I will be sending them the parts. After i have the brake kit and my parts back i will be pulling the rear down and getting a few things done for that too. I will hopfully find a 9" diff from somewhere to put back in. So if any of you know anything, let me know. Below are some pics of how i cleaned up the upper control arms. ![]() ![]() ![]() I went into Bunnings and got a Josco brush kit to fit the drill. Product Number (BRUKIT5) It's pretty good, but some areas are really hard to get into. But with some hard work i got it done. Will put up some more photos tomorrow. Cheers

Hi guys. Well it's all happening. It's all happening.
I have done some things a bit ar5e about, but it's all a learning curve. The plan was to get the car up and running with the green paint and 6cyl, get it reg'd and then build it up a little later on. But as you all know, plans change. As i got my wheels and suspension parts back from the powdercoaters, i had a really mind boggling thought. How about i extend my personal loan for the 4th time? and get the car down to bare metal and fully rebuild it. So in the next few months i should be updating this thread a bit. I will be starting to do things soon, but will begin stripping the car after i get back from holidays overseas. First i will be fitting a few things up that I want to change. - Late model falcon washer bottle inside guard. - Move remote brake booster to inside the guard. - and whatever else i can think of doing. I will be doing this so i don't have to drill any holes after painting. Next i will be stripping the interior, then the exterior trim, engine and gearbox out. I have to make up a jockey wheel frame for the front as i only have my newly painted parts for the front and don't want to have any paint or paint stripper get on them. I will be using Camstrip to strip off the paint, then a sander with 80-100grit discs to get the harder/precious places. I will remove the bog then apply some primer to make sure the panels don't get surface rust. I will be doing one panel at a time as i have the car in a carport. After i have got the car stripped i will get the panel guy to come round and give it a look over for rust repairs and send it off on a trailer to it's new home for a lot of months. Just want to do as much of the work myself to keep the costs down. The colour i have decided for the XR is Lightening strike(BA-FG Light Silver) with Sensation(FG Blue) GT stripes. While the body is away i will be rebuilding the 289ci Windsor. I will only be rebuilding it to near factory specs as i plan on buying a crate motor down the track. So that is the new Plan which i intend to stick to. I'm getting a bit excited. hehehe. Cheers all ps- I'll try and get as much photo's of the progress as i can. I will also try and get some photo's of the powdercoated parts in the next few days.

Well, here is a quick pic of the front end parts. I also have 4 15" EF-EL falcon steel wheels done, but they are at my Dad's place. They look amazing.
Also, the XF stub axles in the photo don't have rust. That is the reflection from the computer desk. ![]() It'll be good being on the forum as i will most likely need a bit of guidence through the next so many months. Cheers
