I am a bit reluctant to show pictures until the car is complete,a little more history on this model, it won and took runner up places at pikes peak, I think two years running.
Pictures don't give the right impression compaired to seeing one in the flesh , very imposing long low , in 1966 a Toronado was spaceage , was car of the year in the USA. I originally wanted to turn my spare car in to a four wheel drive , a fairly straight forward engineering job, 454 t400 with transfer case, 9" in the back, independant 9" up front ,Chev Impala tunnel and floor, not for me have new project startng next year, money dependant.

G'day champ, those tornado's are really nice tough looking machines & i never knew they were FWD, if the engines are north/south configured then how do they drive the cv's, (some kind of chain or shaft perhaps) come to think of it? didn't BLO-BACK that blue twin engined holden ute from the eighties have a 403? cadillic front wheel drive set up and a blown chev in the tray. anyways good luck and all the best with the tornado

Hi chucky, yes the engine is north south, the trans is mounted back wards and lays beside the engine on the east side , its driven by a hi-vo (55mm)chain, from the back of the torque convertor, the trans is connected to a conventional style diff head independant of course, with inner and outer cv's, axels and cv's are fairly heavy duty, the sixty six had a one off style diff with a planetry gear set inside really nice engineering, for 1967 they were quick enough, with stock crossplies 0-100 kms 7.5sec, not to shabby for two ton.
