Adelaide, the city of churches, burnouts and FIREBALLS! Gazza Nationals 2008 went off with a bang, Steve Loaders HG (UCSMOKE) is ready to be named UCFLAMES after Saturday nights burnouts! The sun beamed down and almost cremated us with track temps reaching 50 odd degrees! It’s all good, we were there for burnouts and horsepower and there were plenty of both!

BLWNHX has been off the burnout circuit for sometime, due to its owner (Steve Gallace) opting for a new engine setup. It’s now an ear splitting 2000hp methanol guzzler and guzzler is putting it mildly. In the burnout finals, Steve had to stop due to running out of fuel, 85L of methanol in just under 50seconds (video)!! The motor is a solid HEMI block - no water jackets, that originated from a top fueler in the states. It’s an amazing engine bay to look at, 3″ header pipes and the heads are just enormous.
WA car FEAR a blown injected late model Monaro showed off its burnout prowess as a burnout master. It wasn’t without alot of tooling though as the munro just didn’t want to run right on Saturday, coughing and spluttering whenever the loud pedal was hit. A long night and trial and error swapping control modules and dizzys when they found a blocked fuel filter! After that FEAR ripped out a killer burnout and sounds as good as it looks too (video)!

The officials don’t get a whole lot of recognition at events, even though without them there wouldn’t be an event. The fireys were standing on the track all day (temps were close to 50degrees on the track) wearing their fire suits without a whisper of a complaint. Have to hand it to these guys, I would have been putting out fires in thongs, singlet and shorts rather than wear that suit.

Last year this was a black bigblock powered statesman last years setup. This stato has had an extreme makeover and now features full airbrushing up both sides, a new donk - LS1 with a yella terra blower sitting atop it.

I just want to know one thing - why would you want that as your gear *knob*?? Twin 6/71 blown truck ’smurf’ truck is built for speed on the salt lakes with a best of 120mph to date.

This black LJ did a great burnout, but even more interesting than that is how did the driver see? Soon as the tyres started smoking the cabin filled with smoke, in the Super Skids it was the same deal!
Congrats to Gary, Deby and all their helpers, great show guys and shall be back next year for more! Oh and before we shoot off - Congrats to Donny (ONBOC) for winning the Blown class burnouts and to Shaun(CYCOV8) for winning the NA class burnouts - two New South Welshman bringing home trophys!!
