Most guys build a tough engine, sure they’ll give it the odd squirt down the track, but for the most part they will never really see the real potential of engine or car. Then there are guys like Chris Attard who has built himself what is essentially a ‘race car with numberplates’. Every last drop of power is funneled through the driveline and put to the ground with the idea of utilising it ALL. Small tweaks here and there being made to keep on propelling the little LC to lower ET’s. Chris has owned his LC for close to 8 years and it was no slouch back then having already run a 10.7 with a small block 377. Since Chris has made a mountain of mods, infact the original owner didn’t believe it was the same car when he saw Chris at the track.

Since Chris first bought his LC, he has pretty much upgraded and tidied up the entire car. Adding more cubes with a 400 chev that is now stroked to 414cubes, the combination of tubs and stretched rear guards have allowed the little LC to tuck tyres under the rear! A fresh coat of paint (modified acid rush) was applied, 6 point cage, carpet, rooflining and seats have all been replaced, as Chris says ‘a quick tidy up’.

…putting my helmet on and lifted my foot off the brakes and nudged the bloke in front…

“At Powercruise, lining up for the off street drags, I was putting on my helmet and accidentally lifted my foot off the brakes and accidentally nudged the bloke in front. Turned out to be another tough torana, WLD77″.

.. I was running 15.1 comp and the pistons were just hitting the heads..

“When I first had the 414 setup running, I was running 15.1 comp and the pistons were just hitting the heads. My engine builded lowered it to 14.8/14.9 and haven’t had a problem since”.
Whilst being a serious racer when at the track, Chris is more interested in a PB and enjoying running amuck which is why you’ll see him thrashing about the track at Powercruise and any other event he can get to. “Win lose or draw, i’m there for a good time not to win”.

Chris has run a best of 9.26 @ 143.2mph on ET Streets, which Chris attributes to him gaining 2 tenths.

What’s Next? “At the moment it’s off the road, I’m looking for a high 8 second pass so a heap of new engine bits have been ordered. Hoping for 600+ at the rears”.
