Spring Nationals is now the ripe old age of 15 and still going strong. No matter how hard the boys in blue try to deter entrants, they keep coming back to Shepparton for Springnats. Thousands of spectators poured into the DECA grounds to watch the 450+ strong entrants thrash and show off their pride and joy.
Burnouts
As always, the burnouts had their fair share of carnage and the most spectacular would have to be Aaron’s blown van (VANTSY) see above. A bit of fuel dumping on the red hot tyres equals a whole lotta flamage. Flames engulfed a good portion of the drivers side quarter burning off all that beautiful air brushing. Check the video of VANTSY in flames! Let’s not forget ATRISK, SKDUTE, SWAY, ILURVIT, DRFTN8, GRUNDY, SWITCHED ON to name a few. All performed top skids on the DECA pad. Oooo and before I move on, I should mention that a few ladies decided to bare their essentials to get extra points from the judges (NSFW images here).

Showcars
An immaculate HQ in original trim plus an injected 5L 304 drew quite a bit of attention. Goes to show that the clean and neat goes along way towards creating a tough cruiser.
What else does a Ferrari 360 need except maybe twin snails, new interior and paintjob?

The police need to start working with modified enthusiasts to build up a good rapport. Pulling over people to hand out yellow stickers for cars on trailers simply creates a negative view towards the police. The crazy part about it is that the police causing the problems are from out of town. They come up from Melbourne every year to *police* the spring nats entrants. Perhaps if they were to work with the likes of Les Adams and entrants then they would achieve a great deal more….
Anyways, kudos to Les Adams and his crew for putting on yet another brilliant show. Looking forward to the next.
