Held at Eastern Creek over 3 days with 820+ entrants! Powercruise is THE event in Sydney. Nowhere else in Sydney can you flog your car all weekend and not get tickets from the boys in blue!

Miss Powercruise & Wet T-Shirt Comp

A sexy blonde piece won Miss Powercruise (check her out above)

Unfortunately there was a poor showing for the Wet T-Shirt comp, probably due to Powercruise being a no alcohol event. However there were four young ladies who antied up to show off their wares! The absolute standout by a long shot was the beautiful Nina (pictured below), she didn’t get her cans out but sometimes it’s nice to leave a bit to the imagination ?

Burnouts

Burnouts were held with two pads at a time, two entrants frying their tyres almost side by side. Two huge pads at the end of the main straight at Eastern Creek and cool night air to aide in keeping those engines nice and cool!

A blown torana with plates ‘RHYNOS’ took out the burnout comp and deservedly too! After popping both tyres, he kept pushing his pedal through the firewall. Exhaust glowing, engine screaming and rear steelies doing their best to take the place of a concrete saw. What an awesome site, all the photogs were scrambling over one another to get photos!
Apologies for the photos of burnouts – the dark of night and smoke blocking out lighting makes for extremely difficult photo conditions…

Having the burnouts at night also brings out a whole new avenue for competitors to explore to make themselves standout from the crowd. Fluoro’s undercar, on brake callipers and even the rev limiter light. Many took advantage and looked quite spectacular, although some would have been better off investing in their engines for a little more poke

Cruising

The biggest draw card of Sydney’s Powercruise would have to be the fact that entrants can cruise around Eastern Creeks track flogging their car all weekend. Naturally there are rules such as no static burnouts (digs holes in the track) but all in all it’s pretty much a free for all.

Nothing like thrashing your car till the box cooks like our own Cycov8 did, but hey that’s just part of the fun.

Drag Racing & Powerskids

Drag racing was held in a different formula, cars had a rolling start and times weren’t kept, whoever crossed the line first won (unless disqualified of course). This enabled the slower cars to get through the ranks and line up against the 6 and 7 second cars.

Powerskids – the aim of the game is to keep the wheels spinning from a standing start for the greatest distance possible. The number of cars able to powerskid a full quarter mile was amazing with the longest being in the region of 460 odd metres!
