The ACT was saturated with revheads as Summernats 21 came to town, 105,000 spectators walked through the gates and i’m guessing there was many a sore head to nurse too. All this adds upto an estimated $12 million cash injection into the ACT’s economy, pretty amazing what the car community can do.
Bigblocks, smallblocks, turbo, twinturbo, supercharged, twin supercharged, bagged, lowered, airbrushed, you name it Summernats has it in the modification stakes.
Victor Bray brought along his very first race car, a 57 Chev complete with new brodix headed bigblock and blower.
Victor also brought along one of his newest toys, a Datsun 1200 ute!
Grand Champion of Summernats
Robert Godfrey’s orange HQ one tonner ToyTon took out the Grand Champion trophy and is definitely well deserved.
Show N Shine
Cruising
Out of all the shows, Summernats seems to draw huge crowds simply to watch cars doing laps. Where else are you going to see such a variety many highly modified cars in a traffic jam?
Fastback mustang ‘ELINOR’, not a real Shelby GT but a very nicely turned out ride indeed.
The Party Bus delivered more flesh for Summernats 21.
Summernats 21 Girls
As always there were many a fine female specimen to ogle at summernats. The crowds help to encourage many a female to bare their funbags of all shapes and sizes.
Promo girls, need I say anymore?
Action both on and off the track…
There was plenty of action both on and off the burnout pad at Summernats 21. Most being caused by the highly intelligent security at the nats. Steve Loader’s methanol injected HT(UCSMOKE) hit a concrete barrier. His injector hat froze causing the throttle to get stuck, luckily no one was hurt. However security dragged Steve out of the car and gave him a few smacks, real nice of them hey?
Security seemed to be a bit trigger happy when it came to violence this year. Even Gary Myers copped a few punches whilst on his way to the burnout pad. Security stopped Gary for doing skids on main street and ended up breaking his Tacho before giving Gary a few smacks to the head.

Aside from the drunken yobbo’s and a few security guards, we had a ball at Summernats and look forward to next year with the hope that maybe a skid area is developed for either Tuff St or Main St or maybe even both.
